Rubber Stampers are always welcome here

For many years I have been rubber stamping, and it is something I love that has brought me many happy hours.
Not only is it a great stress buster, but like many other stampers it has brought me many new, valued and treasured friendships.

Two cards using my digital stamps

Well as I promised myself, tonight I completed two cards using some of my new digital images from Mo's Digital pencil too.
I actually coloured them last night , so I only had to design and construct them this evening.
They did not turn out too bad at all and I have to admit that fairy image is so cute.
Here they are, what do you think.

Exploring digital stamps

I suspect that rubber stamps will always be a love in my life, but just recently I have been giving a thought to the new trend of digital stamping.

There has been much talk on many forums about this, but when I saw the SNR had some listed in their group section I decided to take a look.

Now this was fatal!!!

Always ready to try something new, AND seeing some "must have" images on Mo's digital Pencil too website I just had to buy some.

Buying was easy through Paypal, and quickly delivered, BUT not being a computer geek, I have still to master the art of downsizing images to sizes I can comfortably work with.
Some images are already the correct size for certain cards, and those I have had great fun colouring,so, watch this space for some new designs soon.

Working hard

I have been neglecting my blog yet again, but unlike many other bloggers I just cannot get used to making posts on a regular basis. That could be something to do with the fact that I would rather be crafting and stamping away making cards!

However I do feel just recently that I have had a VERY good excuse, not that I should need to vindicate myself, but I will.

At least once a year I decide to really concentrate on sumitting designs for publication. I have been fortunate in the past having had things published in most major rubber stamping magazines in America, and just a few in the UK.

I can design for hours and have no problems with ideas or my muse, but typing up the product lists and instructions for my projects is another thing all together! It does not help matters, that I can only type with two fingers, that is what happens after having my own secretary for years! I always knew I should have learnt to type properly.

So for these last few weeks I have tried to be good, scanning in recent design work AND typing up the appropriate lists to go with them, not to mention writing up projects too.
I still get a kick out of seeing my work in print and jst occassionally they pay me a few dollars too.

I never like to write up a post on my blog without adding a recent design or two, and this time is going to be no exception. Enjoy.

Where is the summer disappearing to

Where oh where is the summer disappearing to? Life seems to be so busy right now!

Two of my grand daughters have visited and we are going to Scotland on Friday to collect two more. Add to that we need to ferry our eldest grand daughter and her boyfriend to visit her uncle and you can imagine why my car feels like a school bus at this time of year.

Fortunately I have found time for some stamping, but I am afraid I got a little behind with my July birthdays. Still I have caught up with them all and sent my profound apologies to each and everyone. If by any chance you were one of the ones whose card arrived late this month........sorrrrrrrrrrrrry.

As Blue Peter used to say, here is one I made earlier. This is going to a friend of mine that just adores cats!

Two little girls and not enough time

The advent of school holidays always brings me the excitement though it be with slight intrepidation, the realisation that the annual visit of my grand daughters is nearly here. When I say annual, that does not mean I only see them once a year, far from it, but it does mean their longest "stay over with their Nana and Pops".

Planning has to start plenty of weeks in advance as there is never enough time to go around with two little girls and all the activities they want to see and do.

Crafting always plays a big part of any stays with Nana and my craft room holds the same fascination for them as any Aladdin's cave to the famous fairy tale 40 thieves.
So much so that my dear husband had to make a catch for the door , so high up that tiny hands could not reach.

This time the eldest girl with a little prompting from yours truly, decided to have a go at journalling. Of course a lot of the fun was collecting various tickets , handouts, programmes and colourful leaflets that could be used to fill out her "activity folder".

We are only three days into a visit and so far we have visited a Play zone in a Children's farm, viewed and petted every farm animal possible, shopped for next terms school uniforms, shoes , sandals and would you believe 52 pairs of socks!!!
We have been to see the fabulous new film ICE AGE 3, that had us all laughing for most of the time we were at the cinema. There was a visit to the book shop, all our grandchildren love books, especially as they know Pops and Nana will always pay the bill for any literary works of art, from the classics to sticker books.
It poured with rain, but did that stop us venturing out on yet another expedition? Of course it didn't. Off we set again. This time to take a trip on a railway steam engine that turned out to be three years older than Michael , and commissioned in 1946.Now this really excited the girls. Like most children of their age they had never been on a steam engine, and only once previously on an electric train. The youngest likened it to Thomas the Tank and for those with children, they will be familiar that it is one of the little ones favourite story book characters. There was time for tea and scones with jam and cream in the tiny railway station tearoom before we left.
Not being the most agile of people, climbing the high steps to get on board was a bit tricky for me. However there we sat waving madly to people taking photographs and watched the world traverse slowly by until we reached our destination some twenty minutes later. The children did not know but we had booked tickets for a visit to an Aquarium on arrival, that gave us plenty of time for both a fun and educational tour before returning home.
As I said we just don't have enough time and as we have a visit to the theatre planned for tomorrow to see Peter Rabbit, the famous story by Beatrix Potter, I am now heading for bed without even finding time for me to "play" in my craft room today.

What a busy Day

Today I feel really pleased with myself.

Since my printer bit the dust a few weeks ago, I had fallen behind with writing up card instructions to accompany my submission cards to various magazines. Today I have hardly stopped, surprisingly I have not burnt out the new printer!! Not only did I write my instructions up but I also managed to get some of the things mailed.

Tonight I felt like being creative, so here I am still sat at 3am scanning the new cards I made this evening into the computer. Want to see what my ink and stamps created tonight. OK here they are

A New Challenge at Whimsy Stamps

This weekend saw me trying hard to follow the great 4th of July event at SNR Card Universe.
I attempted to visit all of the 100 blogs that were listed but kept getting waylaid by all the wonderful websites I found , that I did not even know existed.

I have only recently started a blog, and I am afraid I am not very good at keeping it up to date.

However after visiting http://whimsystamps.blogspot.com/ and seeing the challenge on there connected with the 4th of July, I thought I would join with my American friends and give it a whirl

Unfortunately I do not have any Simply and Sassy Stamps...............just yet, but above you can see the birthday card I have made for the challenge. In fact I made two.......yahoooooooooooooooo

Printer bites the dust!!

My printer bit the dust, or it will do when I throw it out of the window.
Talk about frustration. It has been giving me trouble for a little while now, and I dont mind a few hiccups, but when it means I have wasted all night trying to resolve the problem it leaves my patience wearing a little thin!!

OK, so today I decided, along with DH, who had heard me cursing and banging about, to buy a new one.

I would always advise anyone making new investments in electrical goods to do some research first. I am a great believer in using all the information available at WHICH. Then I do a price comparison to see where the best buy is, and what it cost in mailing charges.

Of course I prefer to spend my money in the local stores but unless they give me a good deal, then I will shop on line. The best price for me this time was to be found on Amazon saving a minimum of £14.99, and there was no mail charges.
All I have to do now is wait until the mail man calls

Some of my recent card designs

Why can I not find anything

Like many other stampers I often find the need to clean my untidy craft room. After just one hectic session of stamping it looks like someone has dropped a bomb in there!
Part of the trouble I know, is not having a large enough room to hold all my goodies.
Ad hock storage makes it difficult too when different sized boxes are piled on top of one another.
I have made great strides in reorganising things in there recently, partly due to the fact that I needed a new Ariel lead installed to accommodate the advent of digital TV which comes to our part of the country this month.
It certainly makes you think, that I could not let the engineer in, until I had moved things. Otherwise I am sure he would have had a nasty accident tripping over something!
My DH has bought me a new TV with combined DVD, so now I shall be able to watch my craft videos too.

However I digress. I decided to do some stamping this afternoon, and what happened? I created another mess because I simply couldn't remember where I had put things after my reorganising last time!!!
The only consolation is knowing that other rubber stampers suffer from the same problem too.
Maybe tomorrow I shall get chance to post the designs I made today.
